What is the difference between 申請 and 申し込み ?

 「申請」は役所に提出する書類などのように、役所的なものに使われます。「申し込み」はそれよりちょっと幅が広いかな。

“申请”是向政府机关提交的文件等，特指用于政府机关的东西。“申し込み”比那个用法稍微宽泛一点。

"申請" is used for a government office, such as a document submitted to the government office. "申し込み" is a little wider than that.
